The Easter weekend ended very great after getting two sessions at IT/Dev Connections approved. IT/Dev Connections will be held like last year in the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas, the place where more than 1.500 IT Pros will be learning all about SQL, Exchange, Windows, System Center, Azure, Intune, EMS and more 🙂 The place to be in September if you ask me.

citrix-connector-7_5-00Thanks to a tweet of fellow ECM MVP Marius Sandbu I was triggered that yesterday the new version of the Citrix Connector for Configuration Manager 2012 was released.

Last year I spend some time on and blogged about the earlier version of the Citrix XenApp Connector. If you ask me a very nice addition to Configuration Manager 2012 and Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop if you need to manage both. With this connector you are able to manage the Citrix farms from a single pain of glass, the Configuration Manager console 🙂

This version supports XenApp, XenDesktop 7.1 and XenDesktop 7.5. So this means more testing and new blogs are coming up in the next couple of weeks/months 🙂

citrixxenapp-err00Wow, what a great two weeks I had, being part of TechEd Australia and TechEd New Zealand. Two very nice events on the other side of the world. 🙂 More on that in a later blog, which I probably will write in the plane back to the Netherlands. Today I want to share a little issue I had preparing one of our sessions during TechEd New Zealand. While being in the process of preparing the session in which we were talking about the Citrix XenApp connector for Configuration Manager 2012 a new application couldn’t be published to the XenApp farm. Strange issue since it was working the week before.

As promised in part 5 of the blog series about “Citrix XenApp 6.5 integration with Configuration Manager 2012” you are now able to see the bits in action. In this webcast I will show you how you are able to publish an application to the Citrix XenApp farm, how you are able to use the XenApp Deployment Type in combination with a Windows 7 device that is not your primary device and how to use the App-V Deployment Type of the same application on a device that is your primary one.

In the past four blogs about this subject we looked at the Cirtrix XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager 2012, along the way some issues came forward and were fixed with the help of the people behind Project Thor, Citrix J Also I would like to point out some troubleshooting options when working with the Citrix XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager 2012. Some notes from the test lab 😉

In the past 3 blogs we have looked at the architecture of the XenApp connector for Configuration Manager, configured it and published an application to the Citrix XenApp farm. In this blog we will have a look at the XenApp Deployment Type and what additional features it will bring to Configuration Manager 2012.

Now that we looked at the architecture, installed and configured the XenApp connector, it is time to see the really cool bits in action. In this blog we will publish an App-V Applications from the Configuration Manager 2012 console. This is done without touching the Cirtrix AppCenter where normally the applications are published.

Like mentioned in my earlier blog about the Citrix XenApp connector for Configuration Manager 2012, after the installation of the connector a configuration wizard is started straight away. This wizard allows you to configure the connector. Let’s see how the connector needs to be configured.

A little bit more than a month ago Citrix released the Citrix XenApp connector for Configuration Manager 2012. Before I was able to have a look at the connector, I had to configure a Citrix XenApp 6.5 server in my lab environment. A little challenge but it is working like a charm! 😉 In this series of blogs I will try to show you what is possible with the connector. In this first blog we will look at the architecture and the installation process of the connector.
