sccm2012-logoThis time not really a technical blog but a short story about what happens if IT people don’t talk to each other. A month or so ago a customer of mine emailed me describing an issue that OS Deployment was suddenly not working anymore. In the morning it was still working and during the afternoon it was not. For some reason WindowsPE could not be found on any distribution point.

After some digging around by the client, apparently the Active Directory Team renamed the Active Directory sites in their environment without telling the rest of their colleagues. So this behavior is indeed very logical because the actual AD site in which the client computer is in, is not known by Configuration Manager. Let’s see how this process works.

BLOG-1000095As mentioned in the first blog of 2015, it was a very good year, but how did my blog? How often has my blog been visited, how many page views did we have, what are the most visited blog posts, etc.? In 2014 the blog grew again enormously and that with all the technical (Database) issues, I am very proud of that and thank you so much for visiting ConfigMgrBlog.com / msemsblog.com and reading my blogs! See here the stats of 2012 and the stats of 2013. In this new year you will see a lot more of ConfigMgr and the Enterprise Mobility Suite! So stay tuned!

Just a quick note from my holiday address in Greece. 😉 Yesterday Microsoft announced and released lot’s of new things to ‘play’ with in the next half a year. As you probably have seen Technical Previews have been released for the next versions of Windows (Windows 10), Windows Server and System Center.

You can download the bits here:

As you probably see no new Configuration Manager Technical Preview have been released yet, I say yet because if you read this blog of the Product Group you learn that a new version is mentioned. Stay tuned for more after I am back 🙂

We are back online!

poweredbywindowsazureYou may have noticed that this blog was less available since Friday. Today I noticed that there were issues with the database (account) so at the end I moved the blog to a dedicated Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine. So this way there is no need for paid MySQL plans anymore. I hope that the website will be more stable, if you notice issues or missing links please let me know!

Thanks for your support!

The last couple of months I received complains and noticed myself that my blog was less available due the fact the my old provider was randomly blocking IP addresses all over the world, this due some DDOS attacks in the past. Which resulted in the fact that my blog was less available 🙁

So as from today I moved my Configuration Manager blog to Windows Azure. Let’s hope it will be more stable. Sorry for the inconvenience if you had to miss some of my blogs lately!

Please if you notice that something is not working correctly, please drop a line via the reaction option below or via peter@configmgrblog.com. Please also let me know how the speed of the website is.

SMIC1608_blogBling_speakingAs you might know I have the opportunity and the honor to present three sessions in total at TechEd Australia and TechEd New Zealand. Together with James Bannan I will be presenting one session at the Gold Coast and two sessions in Auckland.

Next Wednesday (September the 5th) we will talk about and show how your Apple devices can be managed with Configuration Manager 2012 SP1/R2 together with Windows Intune. During this session we will show how you can enroll and manage your iOS and MAC OS X devices. If you are at TechEd Australia, please join our session love to meet you there.

MMS_banner_180x150jpgBack home, recovered from the little jetlag and the very intensive week I will give with this blog a small insight in my second half of the week in Las Vegas. If we follow the rumors, the Microsoft Management Summit 2013 in this form will most likely not exist next year, but there will be some kind of MMS 2014 community event for sure. In what form and organized by who? Time will tell.
